Common questions
The same answers are in the extension, under Settings and then Help.
Where are my API keys kept?
In this browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.local), on this device only. They are never synced and are sent only to the provider they belong to: api.anthropic.com, api.openai.com or api.deepseek.com. The page you are reading on X never sees them.
How does Auto choose a model?
Each action has a base weight (translate is light, verify and research are heavy). Long posts, threads, images and quoted posts add to it, and the strategy shifts it. The score picks a tier, and the tier picks a model from the first suitable provider in your order. Fact-checks prefer a model with web search; posts with images prefer a model that can see them.
How accurate are the costs?
Token counts come straight from each provider's response, so they are exact. Prices come from the table under Models and prices, and web searches are added at the provider's rate. The estimate in the menu is a rough guess made before the request runs.
Can it tell me how much credit my account has?
DeepSeek exposes a balance endpoint, so its live balance is shown. Anthropic and OpenAI do not offer one for normal API keys, so set a monthly budget and Postsight counts down from it, including roughly how many tokens are left.
Why does DeepSeek not search the web?
The DeepSeek API has no web search tool. Postsight still answers from the model's knowledge and says what it could not check, but for fact-checks a Claude or OpenAI key gives sourced answers.
Does Postsight post anything for me?
No. Reply ideas are drafts you copy; Postsight never types into X or posts on your behalf.
What is sent to the model?
The post text, author handle, time, quoted post, link preview text, poll, community note, image links (only to models that can see them) and, on a post page, the rest of the author's thread. For an X Article Postsight reads the article from X's public post page; for links it reads the linked page if you allowed that. Pages are fetched without your cookies. Nothing else from your account or timeline is sent.
What do wallet cards check, and what do they send?
With wallet cards on, hovering a 0x address or a .eth name in a post looks it up in public sources that need no key: ENS on Ethereum and Basenames on Base (names checked in both directions, plus their text records), balances and transaction counts from public Ethereum and Base nodes, web3.bio profiles, Ethos reviews, Coinbase verification attestations on Base and GoPlus security flags. For a token it adds DexScreener trading pairs and paid listings, GeckoTerminal's score and holder spread, a Honeypot.is test buy and sell, and who created it (from Clanker, Blockscout, GoPlus or GeckoTerminal). Only the address or name is sent to them, without your cookies, and the answers are kept on this device for up to a day. Names, profile links and a token's listed accounts are claims their owner published, so a match is a hint, not proof. With your own Etherscan or Blockscout PRO API key in settings, cards also show who created a contract on any chain and its verified name; an Etherscan key also dates a wallet's first transaction.
